another day - Thursday

It was so good talking with you this morning - both Bob and I loved hearing from you.

Last night we went to a "class' with Dave Ramsey - have you heard of him?  Check out his website daveramsey.com  Christian based financial stuff - budgeting etc.  We were so impressed, so commom sense stuff.  We are going to take his course offered at a local church.  He is on the radio (talk radio) and has a great following.  If you are ever interested in anything et me know and I will share with you what we have.

I know you will be away from contact for a few days but still know that a lot of people will be praying for your safety.  I also pray for Nic and the  kids daily so that they will do OK while you are gone.  I think it's in God's hands and I know he'll do what's best.


Bob got a haircut today for his Monday meeting - he is really excited!!!!!  I sure hope this works out, it will be a big relief for us financially. 

Temp here is going down slowly - from what some people say this area of the country will continue to get drier and more open to fires etc. - not sure what we'll do if this job works out.

Mailed Beth and Dad birthday cards - will mail Nic's soon. 

I have an opportunity to go to Minnesota and a trip with my girlfriends - debating if I should go or not. If I do I will have one evening and hopefully I will be able to see Nic and the kids.  They would have to come to the cities and I am not sure how that will work out.   I won't be there long enough to rent a car and go see them.  I will call her in the AM and see what she thinks.  I would leave on October 6th and return the 11th.  The girls are going to Milwaukee on Friday the 7th and returning Monday the 10th.  I am sure you remember Judy Karbo - she is one of the girls.  Diane Ridsey is coming from out east and one from Wisconsin.  2 are from the cities.  We have traveled together before and had a great time.   I really want to wait and make sure Bob has that job which he should find out about on Friday.  I will keep you posted.
Sounds like Tony did a great job again in CC last Saturday -
sounds like you are in kind of a 'blue funk' today - you probably need to be busier.  Any change with your back etc.?  Let me know.

early Sunday morning

Hope you read the blog about Bob's new job.  

Today is Carole's birthday and we are going for a tour - actually driving to the east about 200 miles to the White Mountain area - should be lovely and cooler than here.  I really like spending the time to get to know our state.    
If everything works the way we want it to, next Friday I'll call Nic and the kids and have them set a weekend to come visit us.  I will be getting some new furniture so we should have enough room to sleep etc.  maybe even Steve and Ann can come or meet us someplace.  I am really excited about that.  I sent the picture of you, Nic and Tony at his CC meet to Kim - she couldn't believe how tall Tony is and hole he is getting.  I should go back to bed now and try to sleep for at least another hour - it 4:30 AM

Job news

I will start from the beginning -
Last Monday Bob had an interview with a gentleman from a company in Scottsdale who own a company that is about to launch some new food products and needed a scientist to make sure everything is in order (my explanation) - Bob talked again to him on  Friday and they made a phone date for this morning (Saturday).  He wants Bob to meet the engineer that works for him -which he will do on Friday and then if they hit it off Bob will start on Monday.  The engineer is 70 years old and the owner said he has no doubt they will be able to work together beautifully. 
Yesterday the Grand Canyon University hired him to teach at least one class (as and adjunct professor he can only teach 9 credits per quarter).  I think for now he is going to try and do both - he thinks he can manage to teach a 3 credit course.
Than  last Tuesday he was hired as a sub teacher in the Mesa school district.
He is pretty excited about the science position - it will not be a positive until next Friday but say a little prayer all goes well.

Hey - I will teach you all I know about facebook -  I am so proud of myself.
I learned about twitter and digg.com, delicious.com and yelp.com  - I am so filled with information.................

Bob had a skin cancer thing removed this morning - all is OK he just has to see the Dr every 6 months.  He also has an interview at Grand Canyon University tomorrow - will let  you know the results.  He interviewed for a science related position on Monday so he is pretty hopeful something will come through.  He is signed up for sub teaching in the Mesa school district, too.

Saturday we are going on a day trip to the east of Phoenix - called the White Mountain area - they ski in the winter and fish in the summer - We just want to see what it's all about.
ON Friday night we are going to a ballet performance at the Tempe Center for the Arts - it's free, outside and bring your own lawn chair - we do that for the Opera too.
Don't forget Beth's birthday is the day after your anniversary (28th and 29th)

First day in Kuwait

I am so happy you called to let me know you're OK etc.  Sure seems funny to be talking to you 1/2 the world away (or more).
Nic sounded good when I talked to her this morning - she really misses you.
  I called Beth and Steve to let them know.     

Carole and Tom are coming for dinner tonight - nothing really special, just lettuce wraps and roasted veggies.
Bob is at an interview right now and has another one with Grand Canyon University on Friday - they already said they wanted him for a professor I think in Biology.  He would love that.
Not much else is happening here for now - I'll write later - MOM

Sept 18th - evening

haven't heard from you yet - hope you are safe and well and not too hot.  I keep checking facebook and my cell phone to see if there are any messages from you.

Today Bob and I went to see Contagion with Matt Damon - really good.  Bob said the scientific explanations were exact and he was very impressed with the way it was presented - he said something like that could happen just the way it was presented.

The night before.....

Dear Paul,
 Tomorrow you leave - I will miss you, talking to you regularly, hearing about the day to day exciting things, about work, about the family - everything.
Just make sure you talk good care of  yourself and come home to us.  I don't expect you to call often - I would rather you talk to your wife and kids if you have the time.  I know both Steve and Beth as well as Dad wants to talk to you too - Just add me to your list.
  If you ever get really lonely just call or skype - we will have a 10 hr time difference.  I plan on keeping my cell phone close by in case you can't reach me at home.
Bob has an interview for a scientist on Monday - it is in food science which is where he got his PhD.  Say a prayer....................it would be so nice.

We are still hoping to get Nic and the kids here over the holidays - a job would really help.
I will continue to write here and update you to the happenings in Tempe.

Not much new here - at least not as exciting as you have it - going to Ireland?  Always been a dream of mine.
I always wanted to learn to play the bohdrum - Irish drum.

I have become a Dr. Oz junkie - have you ever watched him - he has great stuff to say.

Day after 9/11

Sorry I had to go so fast - Bob was waiting for a call from a recruiter.  I applied to US Air for a customer service rep. - they are  located right by the airport so it would be close.  We'll see what that brings.
Much cooler here today - in the high 80's.  
Had a really nice time iwth S & A and Piper.  She was very well behaved.       We had a nice dinner then walked with the dog down by Tempe Town Lake.  It was really nice out.      
I left a voice message for Tony congratulating him on his CC last week.  I hope to Skype with them this week sometime.    

Does your dad have a facebook account?  I think he asked to be friends - that really surprised me.  I am going to take a class on facebook and twitter at the library  and it's free - I like free.   
In your free time do you play cards or anything with the other people?   You should learn how to play bridge - if you need any cards let me know - I have extra's.
I made a great quiche for brunch yesterday with S & A.  Crust was perfect.  Can't wait to do it again.

Sorry for all the food stuff but that's about all I do until I find a job.

Steve and Ann are coming down on Sunday - bringing Piper too.
Weather is finally going down and getting cooler at night - such a relief.

No luck on the job front yet - I am still very hopeful for both of us.

Talked to Beth today and she is looking forward to Claudia coming this weekend - her bike is not working so she needs a new one - Beth's bike that is - she uses it all the time - it is her mail mode of transportation.  maybe Robert will give her a new one for her Birthday on the 29th.

Haven't heard from you so I just figured you were pretty busy - talked to Ashley today and she seems really good - I will check with Anthony tomorrow to see how he did in his meet tonight.
